As an expert in dab vaporizers, I have thoroughly tested and reviewed many of the top models in the market. In this article, I will provide a detailed comparison of two of the most popular portable dab rigs: the Focus V Carta 2 and the Puffco Peak Pro.
Design and Build Quality
Both the Focus V Carta 2 and the Puffco Peak Pro have sleek and modern designs that are visually appealing and functional. The Carta 2 is constructed using high-quality materials, including a borosilicate glass top and a durable stainless steel body. The Puffco Peak Pro has a similar glass top but features a more minimalist design with an aluminum body.
Both devices are built to be sturdy and durable, but the Carta 2 feels more solid and better constructed overall. Although the Puffco Peak Pro has a smaller and more compact form factor, the Carta 2 is still small enough to be easily transported in a backpack or travel bag.
Heating System
Both devices utilize electronic heating systems that heat up in seconds and provide consistent temperature control for an optimal dabbing experience.
The Carta 2 has four temperature settings ranging from 500 to 842 degrees Fahrenheit, while the Puffco Peak Pro has a narrower temperature range of 450 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. The Peak Pro has a new “Peak Pro Chamber” that allows for more precise temperature control and a longer, more enjoyable session.
Vapor Quality
The Carta 2 features two included atomizers: a quartz and a titanium bucket, both of which produce excellent vapor quality with a full range of terpene flavors. The Puffco Peak Pro has a ceramic bowl that produces dense, flavorful vapor. The Peak Pro features a “Sesh Mode” that extends the heating cycle for a longer and more intense hit.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Both the Carta 2 and Puffco Peak Pro are relatively easy to clean and maintain. The Carta 2 has removable and replaceable atomizers that can be easily cleaned with a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. The Peak Pro has a removable ceramic bowl that can be soaked in alcohol for easy cleaning. The Carta 2 has an advantage with its water filtration system, which helps to keep the device clean and prevents the buildup of resin and other debris. The Puffco Peak Pro has a “self-cleaning” mode that uses high heat to burn off any residue, making it even easier to maintain.
Apps and On-Unit Controls
Both the Puffco Peak Pro and the Focus V Carta 2 have mobile apps that allow for even greater customization of your dabbing experience. The Puffco Peak Pro app is available for both iOS and Android and offers a wide range of features, including precise temperature control, LED light customization, and heating profiles. The app also allows you to control the device remotely, so you can heat it up before you even reach it.
The Focus V Carta 2 app is also available for both iOS and Android and offers similar features, including temperature control, LED light customization, and firmware updates. The app allows you to fine-tune the temperature settings to your exact preference, so you can achieve the perfect dab every time. In addition, the Carta 2 also has on-unit controls, with four preset temperature settings that can be accessed using the button on the device. The Carta 2 also has haptic feedback that provides a
haptic feedback that provides a vibration when the device has reached the desired temperature. The Puffco Peak Pro also has on-unit controls with a single button that allows you to cycle through temperature presets and initiate the “Sesh Mode”.
Conclusion
Both the Focus V Carta 2 and the Puffco Peak Pro are exceptional portable dab rigs that offer outstanding vapor quality and user-friendly features. While both devices have similar functions and features, the Carta 2 has a slightly more robust design and customizable features, including the ability to change the atomizers, temperature presets, and LED lights. On the other hand, the Puffco Peak Pro has a more minimalist design, is easier to maintain with its self-cleaning mode, and offers a wider temperature range with its Peak Pro Chamber.
Ultimately, the choice between the two devices will come down to personal preference and the specific features that matter most to you. Both devices are great options for those seeking a high-quality portable dab rig with precise temperature control and an overall excellent dabbing experience.

The peak doesn’t have a wider temperature range it just has a lower minimum temperature. Carta being 500-842 is a 342F range. Peak pro 450-600F is 150g range. It’s less than half the range and NOT a wider range.
You are correct, I must have been smoking something when I wrote that part… thanks correcting now!!!
