XMAX V3 Pro — The Best Budget Dry Herb Vaporizer Under $100
The XMAX V3 Pro portable vaporizer has earned its reputation as one of the most recommended budget convection vaporizers on the market. Whether you’re new to dry herb vaping or you’re an experienced user looking for a reliable travel device, the V3 Pro delivers clean, flavorful vapor at a price point that no comparable device can touch.
At City Vaporizer — Canada and the USA’s largest authorized XMAX retailer since 2012 — we’ve sold more XMAX V3 Pros than any other retailer in North America. Here’s a deep-dive into exactly why it consistently earns top marks.
01 — Heating Technology
True Convection Heating — Smoother, Tastier, More Efficient
Unlike budget vaporizers that use conduction heating (where your herb sits directly against a hot metal wall), the XMAX V3 Pro uses convection heating — hot air flows through your herb, vaporizing it evenly and preserving the full terpene profile. The result is a cleaner taste, cooler vapor, and less herb wastage per session.
The isolated vapor path made from stainless steel and ceramic ensures your vapor never contacts plastic or low-grade materials before reaching your lips — a feature typically reserved for vaporizers in the $200+ range.
“The flavor is clean and the convection heater extends it well into a session — vapor quality you’d expect from a $150 device, not a $70 one.”
— City Vaporizer Staff Review
02 — Dual Modes
Session Mode & On-Demand Mode — Built for Every Situation
Automatically heats and holds your target temperature for 4 or 6 minutes. Load up, sit back, and enjoy a full bowl without pressing a button. Ideal for home use or relaxed sessions.
Only heats while you hold the button — one hit at a time. No wasted herb between draws. Perfect for microdosing, outdoor use, and conserving your stash on the go.
Switch between modes at any time. The device vibrates to confirm mode changes, and the OLED display always shows your current mode, temperature, and remaining session time at a glance.
03 — Battery & Charging
Replaceable 18650 Battery — Never Get Stuck Without Power
The V3 Pro runs on a standard 18650 lithium battery — the same format used in countless devices, meaning spares are cheap and widely available. A full charge delivers approximately 6 full bowl sessions. Pick up a second battery from City Vaporizer and swap in seconds — your sessions are never cut short.
The included USB-C cable means you can charge from any modern wall adapter, laptop, power bank, or car charger. Full charge from empty takes approximately 5 hours.
04 — Versatility
Works with Dry Herb & Concentrates
The XMAX V3 Pro is a true dual-use vaporizer. For dry herb, grind to a medium-coarse consistency and loosely fill the chamber to about half capacity (approximately 0.15g). For concentrates, load a small amount into the included wax cup insert and drop it into the oven chamber. No separate device needed.
Precision dosing capsules are sold separately and are highly recommended — they let you pre-load multiple sessions and keep the chamber cleaner between uses.

07 — Frequently Asked Questions
How does the XMAX V3 Pro compare to the V2 Pro?
The V3 Pro is a complete redesign. The V2 Pro used conduction heating; the V3 Pro uses convection — a fundamental improvement in vapor quality, efficiency, and taste. The V3 Pro also adds On-Demand Mode, an OLED display, USB-C charging, and a ceramic isolated airpath. If you own a V2 Pro, the V3 Pro is a significant upgrade worth making.
Is the XMAX V3 Pro good for beginners?
Yes — it’s one of our top recommendations for first-time dry herb vapers. Three clicks turns it on, Session Mode handles temperature automatically, and the OLED screen removes any guesswork. It’s also one of the easiest vaporizers to clean at this price point.
How does the XMAX V3 Pro compare to the Arizer Solo 2?
The Arizer Solo 2 delivers superior vapor quality and longer battery life but costs significantly more. The XMAX V3 Pro is the right choice if you want convection performance without the premium price. Many of our customers own both — the V3 Pro for portability, and the Solo 2 for home use.
What temperature should I use on the XMAX V3 Pro?
For the best flavor and efficiency, start between 180°C – 195°C (356°F – 383°F). This range vaporizes the majority of active compounds while preserving terpene flavor. Push toward 205°C – 215°C (401°F – 419°F) for denser, more potent vapor toward the end of a session. Avoid hitting the ceiling temperature of 220°C regularly — it can cause harshness.
Where is the best place to buy the XMAX V3 Pro in Canada and the USA?
Buy directly from City Vaporizer. We are the largest authorized XMAX distributor and retailer in North America and have been since 2012. Every unit includes the full manufacturer warranty. We do not sell through Amazon or third-party marketplaces — buying from us guarantees a genuine product shipped directly from our warehouse.
How do I clean the XMAX V3 Pro?
After every session, use the built-in scraping tool (stored in the mouthpiece) to brush out the oven. For a deep clean, remove the mouthpiece and soak all non-plastic, non-battery components in 99% ISO alcohol for 10–20 minutes, rinse thoroughly, and let dry completely before reassembly. Run a burn-off cycle at max temperature for 2 minutes after cleaning the oven with a cotton swab. Never clean while the device is hot.

Smooth vapor production. Heats up quickly. Bought one for my uncle. Thanks CV.
Jerry –
I’m totally happy with this purchase.
The on-demand mode rocks. The plum is thick and delightful. Love the USB-C charging, super fast compared to my other vapes.
Ramon QC –
Bought one for my wife and I, and we use it on a daily basis. 🙂
Peter –
Great unit for the money as the review states. My only issue with the unit is that it could be a bit shorter in length. That being said, the fact that I can replace the battery or keep a second charged on the go is a huge bonus.
James W –
Best vape I have ever owned. Smooth sensation, fast heat up time.
Sandra –
I previously had pretty significant requirements and this surpassed them. It’s amazing at this price point. The vape gets to gets to 175C in 10 seconds. Additionally I love the form factor and how well its fits into my hand.
Yosi –
Amazing value for the money!

The Xmax V3 is a fair vaporizer and I prescribe it assuming portability is critical to you.. It’s great to have the option to convey an extra battery in your pocket too.
I own other vapes like the Arizer Solo 2. Xmax being that it’s far more straightforward to clean!

Keep it tidy on the herb . Works like a charm.
